CMH is for actions above and beyond the call of duty in combat. McCain was a good pilot and was shot down. No medals are awarded just for being a POW.
Not to take away from what out men went thru in Hanoi Hilton, especially with Hanoi Jane poking her nose in there. They deserve our respect, to be honored for their sacrifice for our freedoms.

This statement is true during any war. You practically have to save your company and run through a hail of bullets wounded to be awarded the Medal of Honor. That is WHY it IS such an honor.

do you really think we should give the medal of honor to the only united states navy pilot to have ever dropped a bomb on his own carrier killing over 100 shipmates.....i dont think so.
