walk uphill--walk in general--anywhere, have sex (yes--it's tricky--but they say it works)--castor oil--drink some, eat a heavy/spicy meal, sleep on the side opposite what you are used to...massage your perineum area, talk your baby into coming out...Good Luck

Not one darn thing. My friends and I have tried about everything over the years and they don't work. Those little rascals hold on tight until they are darn good and ready. All the Castor oil does is clean you out and you have a heck of a belly ache while it does it. We've tried sex, bumpy car rides, lifting heavy stuff and none of it ever worked. Lifted the end of the bed twenty times once and got a back ache that was almost as bad as labor. I think the moon changing has a lot to do with it. They are always busy as can be when the moon is full. Good Luck and God Bless

There is no way to MAKE yourself go into labor before you are ready, even medical methods of induction fail if the woman's body is truly not ready for childbirth. There's strong research to indicate that the BABY tells your body when to go into labor. The baby sends out a hormonal signal perhaps. This almost always happens when the baby is READY to be born...even if that is 2 weeks "late."

There are some ways that can help speed the process along or prepare your body for labor.

Sex and orgasm can sometimes kick start labor (or keep it going). Something in the man's semen may help to ripen the cervix (prostaglandins maybe). So lots of sex may help the body prepare for labor too.

Red Raspberry leaf. It may help tone the uterus. It might also help boost contractions. Check out Ovusoft.com and/or Mothering.com's Pregnancy and Labor forums for more information.

Evening Primrose oil. Taken orally, it might help prepare the body for labor. Capsules inserted in the vagina next to the cervix may help ripen the cervix. Again, post a question on Ovusoft or Mothering if you are interested.

Nipple stimulation. Sustained nipple stimulation (especially of both breasts at once) can release oxytocin and may start ctx or keep them going.

Exercise might help too.

Try "talking" to your baby. Ask him/her to come out when s/he is ready. Ask what you can do to prepare. SOunds silly, but it can work.

Get as much rest as you can. Labor is a very work intensive process, so is having a newborn. You need adequate sleep now to help get you through.

Who knows? There are lots of "methods" but I don't know if any are proven.

A dose of castor oil will clean you out and some say free up some space in your abdomen, causing labor to start. And trust me, this or an enema will save you some embarassment at the hospital.

Eat spicy food. But this kinda messes with the above idea...

walking, light exercise, lots of laughter (go see or rent some comedies)

I played basketball (which I am horrible at) with my husband after eating a cup of chili and a double cheeseburger from Wendy's. Went that night. But it may have also been b/c my doctor had "manipulated" my cervix that afternoon. (manually stretched it out...kinda painful)

The baby can't stay in there forever!

Good luck.

I've had two kids and both times I tried everything towards the end, and both times it was the sex that worked. Within 24 hours after I was in labor. Plus, it's the funnest way (out of all the wierd things people told me would work and there were some wierd things) and the only one that worked for me.

Fall down the stairs. Go to the hospital and make them induce you. That's safer and better. Or just deal with the pain and wait for the labor to start on it's own. Childbirth hurts like Hell anyway.

Actually having sex can make you go into labor. I wouldn't suggest this unless you are over due and I wouldn't continue if you experience pain and I would take precautions.
