Are the profit margins so large on oil products that the tax rates should be increased on just oil producers?

Do you think we are paying too much for gasoline?

yea, this way they can hand the cost right back to us at the pump.

If you want to lower gas prices, we must drill in our own country and become more self reliant while we incorporate new energy sources.

we must also start refining our own fuel. at this time unresearched environmental laws leave us out in the cold.

We have thousands of empty refineries were not allowed to bring up to date or rebuild because of B.S. regulation designed to make us impotent by anti capitalist.

were at the mercy of the people that hate us now.

Did you know that the profit margin of oil companies is much lower than any other major commercial industry in this country? Do you know what a profit margin is?
Did you also know that oil companies are among the heaviest taxed and regulated? So we should give more of their money to the government so they can waste it like they do with so much of our tax money? Maybe we should just let the government control the means of production? Do you have any idea how much more you will pay for gas then?

The profit margin is actually LOWER for oil companies than for many other industries. It hovers in the 7-9% range. Heck, 7-11s feature a higher return than that, would you like to up the tax on a Slurpee, too?

Ummm, at this point in time, since the Bush administration has taken office, the oil industry and oil corporations have been getting subsidies from our government. This means that not only are you and I paying for our gas at the pump but we are paying for it again through our paychecks and taxes.
Not only that but the oil corporations are making record profits in the last 7 years than any other time in history. That's fact. BTW, people, it's the individual gas station owner that makes little profit on the gas they sell. The oil corporations make the largest profits than any other industry in the country.

The Government is all ready getting a fortune in taxes from the oil companies. What is the Government going to start paying for geodetic research, developing technologies and equipment maintenance required for an oil company to get a gallon of gas into your car?
