im doing a project on drug use and abuse and i would really apreciate if you could give me some information on licit drugs. what are their effects and uses ??? how can they be classified? etc etc etc

Valium (diazepam) is a downer and calms people down like crazy, but if mixed with alchohol its potentially fatal as they work on the same receptors in the brain. It is also highly addictive - the Drs I know will only prescribe about a weeks worth at once because of the risks of addiction and dealing.
Alchohol speaks for itself, if you get drunk people become uninhibited with cloudy thoughts, with often horrible hangovers and in severe long term abuse things like liver cirrohsis etc.
In the U.K. a drug called "Khat" is legal. Its a stimulant that makes people feel "blissed" out, and is only psychologically dependent.
Caffeine is a drug, but everybody takes it and its self-explanatory, as is tobacco.
Dihydrocodeine (methadone) is given by doctors to relieve pain but is highly addictive as its an opiate.

licit drugs are legal drugs.... like prescription or cigarettes or alcohol. The effect serves for different reasons. Prescriptions help with medical problems. Alcohol and cigarettes can act as a sedative for some or as a accerant for others.
illicit drugs are illegal..... meth, cocaine, heroin, etc
Here, it does many things, hallucinations, high heart rate, increase in blood pressure, but most importantly... DEATH.

licit drugs are legalized, so a doctor can prescribe them after an exam or you can just buy them in a store.
