for angled shots, you need a lot of top spin. moreover, you need to angle your racquet in the direction that you want to hit it at contact. just remember high to low action creates top spin. if necessary take off power and control the ball more and create more spin.

footwork and topsin. It is very important that the body weight is correctly positioned while hitting an angled shot. Players try to compensate for lack of position by an hapazard swing or more power, thereby causing the ball to go wide. Top spin is essential since in many angled shots the ball is expected to travel over the high part of net and loop down quickly.

The more you are pulled away from the center of the court, the easier it will be to hit angle. Another words "angle" must be created in order to hit "angle". Don't try hitting angled shots from the center of the court. Wait for the wide ball or the short ball. This will increase your percentage of success.

Well, in answering this question I'm assuming you already know the basic fundamentals of hitting a groundstroke so I won't go into that to much, but just make sure you know where your hitting zone is and every thing first. Assuming you know all that -in order to hit at an angle you have to rotate into the ball facing the direction you would like the ball to go also making sure that the raquet head is facing in that direction when you make contact with the ball. That's pretty much it in answering that question assuming you already know the basics of hitting a ground stroke properly.

It sounds like you are able to get to the ball, take it early, and direct it to where you want it - just that it lands wide. I would concentrate on adding topspin to your shot. Consciously brush up with your racket while hitting through it. This will also help you take some pace off your shot.

First, try hitting the ball earlier (further out in front of you). After you get use to that you will notice that when your opponent hits the ball wide it is easier to get wider angels. The wider the angle the more topspin you need to apply on the ball.
