I am securing a large appliance to the wall in case of earthquake. The appliance is 15" from the wall and I bought 1/16" wire rope to attach it. They also sold me a Ferrule and Stop set but I can't figure out how to use it - all the guy at Home Depot said was to use a hammer on it but couldn't explain it any better.

There's one piece that has two holes in it and another with one hole. How do I use this Ferrule and Stop Set to secure the wire rope?

The ferrule and stop set is 3/16" which looks too big but the salesman said it was the right size (if I hammer it).

It's a plasma TV, not a refrigerator, that I am securing to the nearest wall (as the directions in the TV's manual instruct).

You have to lace the wire rope through the ferrule and then through the eyelet or whatever your attaching it to and then back through the ferrule, you can now hammer the ferrule but it may be easier just to use some crimps and then you need to put the stop set at the end of the rope to keep it from slipping through the ferrule, you will need to use crimps on that also. Just a side note, they make those ferrules that clamp on with bolts, they are easier to attach. Or considering what you are attaching you would probably be better off attaching it with a chain and clip so you can remove it when you need to get behind the machine for service.

You cat is precious to you, however he/she keeps destroying your electronics and wires. Read to learn how to protect your toys and let he/she do want they want to theirs. Step 1-Go to your nearest home improvement store. Ask an associate if he/she can direct you to the tubing department. Explain you are looking for tubing to cover your wires. Specifically look for SPLIT FLEX TUBING. You want the product to be flexible and have a split opening in the middle to easily places wires within. (Best price thus far = Home Depot... 10 ft split flex tubing for $1.99) Step 2-While your still at the store, buy ELECTRICAL TAPE. You will need electrical tape to connect the tubings together if the wires are longer than 10ft. Step 3-When home, easily place wires within tubing through the split opening. Due to its flexibility and split-opening, you do not need to move the wires you already have connected. Just place the tube over wires. It will snap shut to secure. Step 4I-f your wires are longer than 10ft, you will want to connect two or more tubings depending on the length of your wire. Use electrical tape to connect two tubes together. Also, note that the tubings can be cut to your desired length.

Sorry bud, up here in Canada we don't get many earthquakes but we do get a few polar bears, beavers and American Politicians dropping by for a visit. For sure, they are all interested in their own benefits here...

I would think that having the fridge so far from the wall is just going to provide you with scrambled eggs (from your fresh dozen) if you ever had an earthquake...
