Is there any other siesmic system besides the Ritcher scale?

What is the name of the fault line in St. Louis?

What is the difference beiween geology and seismology?

Can I measure earth movement with common household objects?

What is the most conductive divergent boundary?

What would happen if the Earth stopped suddenly and then started turning again?

At what level is it a "tremor", and at what level is it a "earthquake"?

1) What do you think the most interesting part of your job is?

2) Do you think someone studying seismology now can have a good career? Are there lots of job opportunities available?

3) What kinds of things do you mostly do? For instance, research vs field work, etc.

4) How do we measure earthquakes and what is the difference between the types of measurements? (Richter vs Mercalli scale)

5) Are there different types of earthquakes?

6) What different types of seimic waves (energy) are there and what is the difference in effect that they have on buildings and things in the area affected?

7) How does a seismograph work?

8) How many seismographs do you need to really study the effects of and measure an earthquake? Would just one be enough?

9) Can we predict earthquakes yet?

10) If not, what areas of research look most promising to advance our knowledge of earthquake prediction?
