Before anyone can answer this question, you have to determine what you mean by "body" and "mind."

I think the assumption most people are making when they try to answer this question is that "mind" refers to the rational and self-aware human consciousness, whereas "body" refers to the mechanical functions of the human animal.

Empirically, I have never seen a functioning human consciousness outside of a operational human body. Occasionally, we see operational human bodies that don't appear to contain a functioning human consciousness -- but this often seems to be the result of medical intervention.

Anecdotally, people who have had "near death" experiences report that their consciousness seems to have been separated from their bodies. We have not, however, found any way to scientifically prove that their experience is objectively true.

Religious traditions all over the world claim that consciousness can survive physical death. If they reflect real knowledge, then the separation between body and mind may be possible.

So the answer to your question really has to come down to whether you trust that religious traditions can include truth that science can not verify. If you believe in this sort of religious truth, then you can find support for minds and bodies existing independently. If you can't believe in religious truth, you will have remain uncertain -- and must acknowledge that science has not (and may not be able to) prove whether mind and body can exist apart.

The body can surely exist without the mind;people slip into comas all the time & can still live as long as their basic physicals are met (lungs, heart rate etc.) & have no need for being concious thinkers( or do-ers).

But the thing that scientists are trying to find out STILL,centuries having gone by in studies.
Can the mind(or soul?) exist without the body?
No one has been able to experiment on that in any way,as science goes. & being flawed creatures ourselves,we may never truly know. It's left up to religion & personal beliefs what happens when your body dies.

I do not know. Energy can exist independently of matter, so why not mind of body.

Ask a regular interior the army to to behave at the same time as taking flight all of the forces under his command. No the recommendations can no longer artwork without its procedures of recommendations etc. one among those military can't generate a regular by making use of itself , exterior help is needed to create a regular for the army. recommendations desires a physique no count if a stable one as on earth. Or an astral physique to roam around without being observed by making use of the human beings Soul takes imprints from the recommendations and take it to the subsequent trip spot, the subsequent physique no count if astral or human one.that's like yet another gadget self reliant of the bodies it assumes.

I would say yes. Brain dead people are a good example. Their body is still there, functioning, but for whatever reason there is no activity going on in their brain and so their mind isn't there. I wonder where your mind goes to in situations like that...

Well, my girlfriend and I like to say that our minds have minds of their own...but, in fact, I don't think my mind would last long without my body to support it, and vice versa. I'd say they (my mind and body) have a sort of symbiotic relationship!
