Ooooo, nasty! You said that you have tried everything. Now, try calling an exterminator. And hurry, before you have to burn the house down!

Salt will only kill existing snails and beer traps do work but with as many snails as you are talking about- I'm sure you need more traps- plus when you set the "beer traps" make sure the lip of the container holding the beer is on the same level as the ground. The snails need to slide and "fall" into the traps. A shallow lid from the tops of containers (ie pickle, mayo, etc jars) are big enough just "twist" them into the ground until they are ground level and fill with beer.
One of the other best (and cheap)/organic method is plain old egg shells! Just keep the egg shells you use (have them for breakfast for the next two weeks or ask a bakery if they could put their egg shells in a separate bucket (provide them with one)) and crush up the shells and scatter them everywhere you see "slim trails" the snails bodies will rip along the shells; each week or twice a week sweep off the snail bodies and shells and scatter more egg shells, just remember to put a dense amount of shells/area. Hopefully this is helpful to you & good luck!

I had the same problem and they were even coming into the house some way. Finally I crushed egg shells and put them around where I suspected they may be coming from and it worked. The egg shells wound them and they are unable to heal. It takes a while, but it sounds as if you have a serious problem with this. If I find an occasional snail or slug now, I pour salt directly on them and they just fizzle away. You can do this outside too, without dangering other animals.

They sell products for getting rid of snails at the store. There are even a few that are safe for use around pets and kids. I worked at the returns desk at a store that sold this product and I never had a complaint about the product not working.

The beer really works... but it depends on how you apply it...
You should put the beer in containers that slope inward, and bury them halfway in the garden around the sides. That way, they slip in and can't get out... Canning jars work well...
(Salt is a bad idea, because it changes the chemical composition of your garden too much).

A garden supply store has a granular product that will get rid of them all in just a few days. Do not use salt!

Snails hate copper and crawling over rough surfaces,Try to find some copper wool(like steel wool) and put a border up where you don't want them, other than that, maybe find a good escargot recipe,I like mine with lots of butter and garlic covered with mozzarella, broiled for 6 min.

salt has got to work, you must be using it wrong, you need to pour like lots of lines of salt around the area to keep them out of. like you should be able to see the lines of salt.
