My computer randomly started sucking at playing songs and videos. Its real choppy and laggy and bad sounding. I think I either need to fix my video card, or my sound card. Either way, I dont know how to do that either. Can someone help me out. I have an HP Laptop with windows xp on it, if that helps...

Go to HP's website, find your laptop, and download the newest video card and sound card drivers. If that doesn't fix it, there might be a problem with your motherboard (since both of cards seem to be affected) or a problem just with the cards themselves. Chat with their tech support and see what they come up with.

Go to windows update (should be a shortcut in the start-> accessories) and when the window finishes loading click the custom button and wait until it loads up your updates. go to the hardware tab (i forget the name, should be the third tab of updates on the left side area). There should be driver updates for your video and/or sound card there.
