Mid April is hot and HUMID in coastal Kerala. It is also school holiday season so expect crowds everywhere. Having said that its probably the best time for wild life sighting so a trip to Periyar WLS would be quite rewarding provided you take the early morning boat ride and forest treks. Periyar is never hot as its at 1600m. Neliyampathy is also a good, off beat destination as is Vagamon, but you must be a nature lover wanting peace to really enjoy these places. A google search will give you plenty of options to sift through. One thing is for sure, anywhere in Kerala is a tourist friendly, safe, clean and VFM destination. PS: Carry Odomos for backwater trips ! Happy holidays.

Mid April will be too hot. The best time to visit is monsoons or winter. Summers in Kerala are very hot and humid.

My suggestions would be -
Ancient Temples of Kerala
Backwaters of Kerala - Allepey
Message Centres in Kerala
