It depends on the trend. For instance a trend like hair will stay for a while. Shoe trends also stay a while. But trends in jeans come and go. It used to be the skinny, now it's going to be wide leg.

Trend are usually determined by magazines and other things .... so to tell the truth ..... trends last till the magazines and big amount of people move on. Trends may last longer than others. Magazine's usally tell people that all of a sudden something is cool. I can't count how many times I've seen magazines at the time a bit strange outfit appears... I change my mind and it becomes normal. If you notice those who never pay attention to that stuff stay the same. Also other country's decide trendy too. I bet if it is IN in Milan or London, once it gets to america saying " its the newest thing in Milan everyone is wearing it" it is now american adapted. The next group of people who decide, are the top designer labels. Once the "trendy" things are pulled out the store window so is the trend. So trends are based on the Bandwagon approach. "everyone is doing it.... if not your uncool"

A trend can last many days, weeks, or even years! It's all up to the fashion world and celebs. Regular people like us, always want to look like a celeb...So we would look through magazines and check out their style and we would buy the same clothes, just different brand! Celebrities are always in fashion and have the lastest trends because they personally have a lot of money and go out and buy cool clothes from cool stores. And these fashion designers just have crazy ideas in their mind and bribes famous people to wear it so they can pass it around.

Ha. Just my theory. Trend sucks. It's all about having your own style, not use others.

well basically magazines and stores determine the trends.
so once the buyers stop buying because theyve got it all, they change it so that you have to go out and buy more!
the more they sell, the more money they get.
for example, remember a few years ago, midrifts were 'in'
and then all of asudden long shirts were it?
thats because once everyone gets like, every color short tank top, then they go long so that you have to get every color tank top long!
because people care about being in, and looking good. i cant deny.
so companies basically manipulate it to keep people buying buying!

that was the explination part.
but actually a trend, like the kimono tops
only last about a season, so i wouldnt spend too much on those
but things like jeans, spend away.
those last a while, unless theyre all ripped.
that was last year
but just plain fitted ones will last a while.
[except for the summer unless you live in a fairly cool place]
