(The Verve could have been the best band ever if the Stones hadn't sued them copying "The Last Time" to write "Bittersweet Symphony"

Gads! There are so many fine performers out there!
The Beatles come to mind first as they have influenced music in so many ways. They were years (decades) ahead of their time. As individuals, they were awesome as well!
The Stones ... Not my personal favorite but they, too, changed music forever!
Heck, even the Monkees had a hand in changing/influencing todays music.
So, my short list ...
The Beatles, The Stones, Pink Floyd, Leonard Cohen, Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, The Mama's and the Papa's, Kathy Mattea, Johnny Cash, Robin Trower, the list goes on and on.
Gonna have to choose The Beatles as the best of all time, IMHO.
