Well, back in the 1870s there was this guy named Alexander Graham Bell who wanted to find a technological means to help deaf people. He built this remarkable device that could turn sound into electrical signals that could be transmitted over wires and then turned back into sound by an identical device at the other end.
Then people on Yahoo started exchanging phone numbers.......
And that's how it works.

You say things that will (hopefully) turn on the person on the other end, and "abuse" yourself in the process.
And I must say it's a lot easier to fake it over the phone.
