i just got a cell phone from cingular about 5 days ago, and their service is not that good around my area, so I have decided to switch back to Tmobile ;-)...
Do I have to return the phone I got my cingular when I cancel my service w/ cingular?
well, yes I know I have to, but can I get away w/out returning it?

here's the deal. If you got it from a corp. owned cingular store, yes return it. They will turn you into collections for the full price of the phone. If you got it from a franchised store location it is really hit and miss on whether or not they will turn you into collections. Also, did you have to give them a copy of a credit card. If you did, and you don't take back the phone you can expect that card to be charged here in a few months. It will take them about 2 months to figure out that you cancelled and didn't return the phone. But when they do you can expect something.

I agree with SuperCit, VZW is the best coverage. most carriers let you try the service and the phone for 15 days and then you can return or exchange it and only pay for the minutes you've used, if you went over your allotment of minutes. yes, you will have to return the phone and it won't do you any good anyway on any other network but cingular's.

are you sure you have to return it? after my contract ended with cingular, i didn't return mine and nothing happened. but if you haven't paid for it, you might have to. call cingular to double-check.

Yes. You will be required to give it back. If you do keep it, you won't be able to get it activated with any other company so it won't do you much good. You will ONLY have a phone that doesn't work.

Take the phone back, tell them it doesn't work properly in your areas of use and ask for a complete refund. Go to Verizon Wireless and try them--they're No. 1 in my opinion.
