are you malaysian?
if you aren't, you won't really understand the complexity of malaysian football. not the game, but the general atmosphere surrounding it.
you see, about a decade ago(give or take a couple of years) malaysia was one of the most feared football teams in the southeast asian region. this was when footballers really had heart, and they weren't treated like spoilt children by the government.
then, somewhere along the way, football and politics got mixed up. people who didn't deserve to be on the field were there simply because of their connections and the unofficial "quota" system.
things still haven't changed today. so, malaysian football is dissed because everyone is so bitter about the bloody system that really wrecked what could have been malaysia's crowning glory.
now, we lose to singapore!!
how can we not diss our bloody pampered playrs who really don't deserve a single cent they earn?!!

Most Malaysians don't read foreign press (excuse me, unless you're really into those things). Probably this is why you don't know why the rest of the world prefer to leave Malaysian football aside.
Just as you have said, you can hardly expect Malaysian team to be as good as ManU or Chelsea, so why compare the Malaysian team to them?
I think Malaysians should take a step back for a moment and look carefully at their pros and cons of sports. There are too many wastage of money and government fundings which should have been spent on upgrading the livelihood of the poor and needy (seriously).
Sportsmen in Malaysia should be taught a good lesson in order to improve.
Another problem lies with Malaysian politics and the tendancy to politicise even the smallest projects. This is the true nature of Malaysia Boleh -all talk and no work.

its not about malaysia only. i dont think football around the south east asian region will meet the standards of english football.. football in this region is not a career. its more like a leisure or a part time basis . most of the players have a main job besides football. financial resources is another thing
so to be on the same par .. lots and lots of "investment" should be put into..
mabye mabye we will be as good as the english counterparts. not now but who knows 30 years from now?
after the standard has rise then u will start seeing fans around

our malaysian standard of football is very low, sad to say..even if you give away free tickets to watch the game, still the field will be empty. they need alot of training. its an embaressment if ever they were to play against ManU or Chelsea.

the standard is just to low. the goverment has been spending loads of cash for years but the standard keeps on falling. its not that we dont love and support our team is just that when we give we expect them to at least try and deliver.

Malaysian football is pathetic. Pitty on retards who actually watch it. Malaysian football team is bad even for an Asian team, they lose almost all of their matches. Malaysian national league is even worse: it's a sanctuary for people who don't find a job so they play football. And they get "great" players from all over the world who played in 4th league in their home countries...
