If you have a specific coin which you would like to get more info on, then you can post another question in this category. Good luck.

First of all forget PCGS and NGC. This is better left to experienced collectors and collectors that know coins, but can't grade them. Your best bet is to see a dealer and ask for his help and time. If he is any good, he will help you when he has the time, he may want you to drop by on say a slow day. One thing that a site can't do for you, is grade a coin, even I can't without seeing it. I do at times here on Yahoo answers give a description of a grade of a certain series, to help at least get the person close to a value. Another avenue to try is a local coin club. Members are usually only happy to help someone out. Hope this helps.

Try getting a book on coin collecting. A book for beginners would help you rate the condition of the coin. More advanced books will list and show each individual coin and it's worth.

IN general, one is best collecting coins that are graded, and graded preferably by PCGS or NGC. Having the graded coin, one can check the value of a coin at the pcgs coin price guide.
