I had my genetics appointment today and found out that I have a higher risk of having a baby with down syndrom. They calculated it based on how many weeks they thought I was... But something happend at the ultrasound they found out that I am a full 2 weeks less then what they thought I was... So instead of being 20wks+1day I am 18wks+1day... And that would make my tri-screening technically invalid because I was tested to early... I would like to know If any one knew if tomorrow that I go in for another blood test that I still have the same chance of getting the 1 in 72 or it could become less??? Please any help is wanted... If you had any stories of how it changed or how the test was wrong...

I found out I was having a boy =) and the ultra sound technician told me she didnt find any defects on the ultrasound that some Down syndrom babies have... I was really devasted when I heard this... First I just wanted a girl now I just want my baby boy to be healthy...

Please help me....

I am havin new blood test done because the old one was done before 15 weeks at 14wks+3dys and that would be to early... If this blood test comes out the same chance I will have the Amnio for sure but I wanted to do the bloodwork over in case there is no need for an amnio...

I would wait a little and get re-tested. I know there is a huge incidence of false-positives with that test. Also, there are certain things such as thickening inthe back of neck and some spots that show up on/around the heart. IF the u/s tech didn't find any defects, relax a little and get retested. I'm not having the test done personally b/c of the incidence of false positives and if the baby has downs it won't matter to us. I hope you find what you are looking for and that your baby boy is healthy!

I was tested before 20 weeks...Did they tell you it was too early?? If it came back abnormal I would highly suggest having an amnio done..I dont want to scare you but my blood test came back abnormal and the ultrasound said everything was normal but I had the amnio done anyway and my baby had Down Syndrome.....I would say do not take the blood test over just go for the amnio to be 100% sure...a blood test is not 100% accurate....I wish you the best of luck!

This happened to my neighbor and she was worried sick. My advise would be to get a amino to rule out for sure any chromo problems. My neighbor had to wait two weeks for the results and worried the whole time and the baby was perfectly healthy. Good luck.

It is just a risk factor. 80% of high risk results end in perfectly healthy babies.
Since the test was done too early, I would say that your risk factor will drop when you have the new AFP

I honestly don't even have this testing done because of the high risk of false positives. Their answer is to do more testing, it's not really saying that your baby has it, it's saying that he MIGHT. I'm sorry for your scare. I hope everything's okay. :)

a good number of girls persons try constructive for that and thier infant is nice. that only potential you're a carry no longer that your infant certainly has down syndrome. i would not freak out and only get retested in 2 weeks.
