How Long Can Rattlesnakes Live

2017-01-11 09:18:03 · answer #2 · answered by keef 4 · 0 0

why would a rattlesnake be underwater? they live in the desert and are in no way built to withstand any amount of time under water obtaining most (if not all) of their necessary water from their food so they essentially don't even ever need to be near a body of water, that is if they could come across one in their arid habitat. rattle snakes are not aquatic or marine- they have as much use for bodies of water as fish do for the desert.

do you have a pool net (don't know the technical name for them...the thing you use to clean the pool with, scim the leaves, etc. out)? use that to poke the snake to see if it is alive and scoop it out with that and dump it in the woods. If you keep it away from you it shouldn't be able to reach you to bite you (if it's alive, which i highly doubt)

Until the rattlesnake runs out of air and cannot breathe...

however, snakes can slow their metabolism and probably survive an extended period with limited air.

I would be careful in trying to figure this one out empirically!

Not very long. Even a water moccasin swims with its nostrils above water.
