first off ...... to comment on the answer of Mark P. the 05 Longhorns because they went undefeated ???? lol, oh my !!!!! would you like me to list the undefeated teams since 1980 ???? the list is about 25 teams long. going undefeated doesnt automatically mean youre great.
NOW ...... to the question asked. first off, to defeat the 95 Cornhuskers you need a defense (something the 05 Longhorns did NOT have, ask Oklahoma St). the best defensive team ive seen in my lifetime was the 1991 Washington Huskies, and they had a pretty damned good offense to boot. they wouldve had a shot at beating the 95 Cornhuskers. After that the 01 Hurricanes had a pretty damned good defense, and a pretty good offense ..... id say they would have a shot as well, just not as good of a shot as the Huskies. outside of those two teams ........ the 04 Trojans didnt have a defense that could stop the Cornhuskers, but they sure as hell had an offense that couldve kept up with the Cornhuskers TD for TD. all 3 of those teams couldve beaten the 95 Cornhuskers, but then again, the 95 Cornhuskers couldve beaten all 3 of those teams as well. there is no way to tell, and i could spend the next 5 weeks listing facts and it still wouldnt matter. football games are won on football fields ....... no stat sheets.
in conclusion ........ the 95 Cornhuskers are without question a top 5 team over the past 30 years, and very well might have been the best. i dont think there is a logical and informed college football fan that thinks the 95 Cornhuskers couldve beaten the 91 Huskies, 01 Hurricanes or the 04 Trojans 5 times if they played 5 times. realistically, they would win some times and lose some times. if i had to rank the 4 ...... i would say
1. 95 Cornhuskers
2. 91 Huskies
3. 04 Trojans
4. 01 Hurricanes
one last thing ........ to the guy who said the Oklahoma teams that won 47 in a row in the 50's. lol .... please dude .... spare me. the Washington Huskies went 63 games without a loss in the early 1900's ..... why dont you mention them as well ????

lol come on, 2001 hurricanes are considered in the top 10 college football teams of all time Najeh Davenport Ken Dorsey Antrel Rolle Andre Johnson Willis McGahee Sean Taylor Clinton Portis Frank Gore Jonathan Vilma Kellen Winslow Jeremy Shockey etc believe it or not the best college football team of all time is the 1971 cornhuskers The team averaged more than 39 points a game on offense, and surrendered only 8.2 points a game. Led by kick and punt returner par excellence Johnny Rodgers (who won the 1972 Heisman), the top-ranked Cornhuskers defeated No. 2 Oklahoma 35-31 on Thanksgiving Day, in what some have called the "Game of the Century." They rounded out their 13-0 season with a 38-6 drubbing of Alabama in the Orange Bowl.

Okay, I'll be the first to bring them up: '04 Trojans. The '05 version was not as good due to defensive losses from the '04 team. The '04 squad went into Auburn and shut them out. The '05 squad gave up 42 points to Fresno St. That team struggled on defense all year and, against Vince Young, it finally caught up with them. The '04 team, just like your Huskers, had an unstoppable offense and a great defense. This team, just like your Huskers, absolutely mauled their title game opponent. Nebraska won by 38 and USC won by 36. USC wasn't the only team that had something in common with the '95 Huskers. Oklahoma, just like the Huskers, dominated their schedule. Nebraska won by an avg. of 24 ppg you say? The '04 Sooners won by an avg. of 22.4 ppg before getting destroyed by the Trojans.
The Huskers were tremendous that year, no doubt, but the '04 Trojans were, at the least, on a par with them. To leave them out of this conversation would be absurd.

like lilcurly said, the 2001 Hurricanes are the only team that will come close to the the 95 Huskers, the 01 Canes were a pro bowl team in the making, runner up to them would be a tie between the 05 Lonhorns, and 00 Sooners

OK how bout 1945-46 Army, 1968 Ohio State, 1982 Nebraska, et cetera.
You cannot say a greatest in history because the game has changed so much in the styles of Offense, Defense, and players in general.
Sorry -- trick question.

2001 Hurricanes. Amazing team loaded with NFL superstars. 3 Probowl Rbs on the roster. And they punished your Huskers 37-14 in the Championship to finish off their perfect season.

Yes several teams were better. Even the top teams they played and beat were way overrated.
