I'm often asked the rhetorical question "Do you know how many songs have Maria in the lyrics?" I've decided that I'd like to be able to answer them. I'm looking for any mention of the name Maria in the song lyrics, not just the song title. I'm specifically interested in current, rock, alternative, pop songs (e.g., Counting Crows - Round Here).

"how do you solve a problem like Maria? how do you catch a fly and pin it down??...etc.
also, many latin catholic songs have the name Maria them, ie. Ave Maria.
hope this helps, although these dont' really fit the genres you mentioned.
