I have this problem. I need to know if a person in my household is wrong for smoking weed in my house in his room. While my 4 month old son is on the same level. You can smell it around the house. Is this still harmful even though we are not smoking it?

It is still very harmful. You need to get this person to stop doing this in your house.

DUH. SORRY, BUT UNLESS YOU ARE VERY YOUNG YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS AND SHOULD NOT BE IN THAT HOUSE.

Come on, are you serious? This is so wrong on so many levels.
People can go to concerts where pot is smoked, and they come in to us at the hospital the next day, and yes it is often in their system. Just like second hand smoke.

It's harmful to you too! Do you have a job? If you get drug tested and are positive, then what?

It's much more harmful to the baby! Your baby's brain and organs are developing.

It's illegal. You can get YOUR BABY TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU. Or you'll go to jail too, and the baby will go to a foster home.

Having dangerous/stupid people in your house who do drugs and around your child is just a bad idea. They bring trouble.

If you plan to keep your child, you better wise up. You must have some good judgement there since you are asking, but girl, you are a mother now. You gotta protect that child and don't be meek and mild.

Tell them to leave, NOW. You are the momma bear and have to lay down the law. Do not put it off. You'll feel better after.

Don't argue with them, don't let them explain. Don't give them more chances. Calmly tell them to leave.
Out. Now. Before someone calls Child Protective Services.

You will have lots more issues as you raise your child, and be faced with decisions. Start learning now.

Yes. Any kind of second hand smoke is harmful, they say even more harmful than actually smoking because its not filtered and if you can smell it, then your obviously breathing it in, and your baby. Tell hiem to take the weed and the cigarettes outside, he should not be anywhere near your son with weed anyway, but if hes gonna smoke it anyways, at least have him do it outside.Plus smoking in the house causes nicotine residue all over even if you just smoke in a particular room, i know because i do, and its a pain to clean.

Haven't you ever heard of a contact high? That baby can be affected at least somewhat. If your friend MUST smoke weed, tell him to do it elsewhere. Tell him or her to do that stuff somewhere else not around you and the baby. You could get in trouble for having a friend smoke weed at your place also. If I were you, I'd just tell your friend/family member to do it somewhere else or they can leave. You need to lay down the law. Even if you don't do drugs and are a good mom, they can haul you off to jail and put your baby in foster care just because you are living somewhere where there is drugs.. You have a kid to worry about now. Either that, or it's time for you to find a new place to live where it's just you and your significant other (I'm assuming there's 1, forgive me if there isn't) and your child. That way you don't have to worry.

I don't think it's a good idea, just because A) smoking around an infant CAN contribute to SIDS, and B) smoking weed is illegal, no matter how unfair some people think that law is.

People can't smoke cigarettes in restaurants anymore. I personally disagree in a big way, over anti-smoking in bars (no I don't smoke) because I think THAT law is unfair. Even so, I can't smoke in a bar because it's illegal.

You also have to keep in mind that even if your son is a baby now...as he grows...being around adults who do drugs WILL have an affect on him. The adults in his world are a big influence, and if his influences think weed (or whatever) is okay or 'the adult thing to do'...then so will he.

Cigarettes are bad enough. Weed is totally wrong, wrong, wrong. That persons perceptions of things are altered when under the influence of weed or alcohol and they could cause harm to the child. If you can smell the weed or cigarettes, it is causing you and the baby harm. That person should not be living in your home or should do their cigarette and weed smoking somewhere else and if they come to your home under the influence, denied entry. Think of your child first and foremost, not the person doing the smoking, no matter who that person is.

It's actually WORSE! Q: Isn't smoking marijuana less dangerous than smoking cigarettes and can people become addicted to marijuana? A: Smoking marijuana is even worse than smoking tobacco or chewing tobacco. One joint affects the lungs as much as four cigarettes! Research confirms that people can become addicted/hooked on marijuana. Today's marijuana is more potent and it is not always what it seems! Before it is sold, marijuana can be laced with other dangerous drugs without your knowledge! "Blunts"- hollowed out cigars filled with marijuana- sometimes have substances such as crack cocaine, PCP, or embalming fluid added to them!!! STAY AWAY from drugs and Just say NO!!! DARE TO RESIST!

Any exposure even while you were pregnant affects the baby. Smoking.. anything.. is no good for anyone no matter where in the house. They will take the baby away if they find out.

If you are allowing someone to smoke pot in the same house with your child you are asking for someone to come and take your baby away!
