So,at work,we keep getting worksheets to do during work hours to 'sharpen our skills' (or words to that effect). We being my entire group (I work for a corporate office)/class of people that do the same job as me (at least 20-30 of us).

I get nothing but praise at work and I've never been told to speed up or any such thing. I HAVE only had the job since very late January, though. ...Should I be paranoid and worried that I'm doing a lousy job (despite the praise and my own opinion that I do well?) or are they just practice sheets to hone our 'skills' since we're so new? I've -never- worked for a corporate office before...so any help is appreciated. I just feel a bit in the dark.

I adore my job, though. I'd hate to lose it.

well, there giving them to everyone. theres no need to be worried, like you said, maybe its just to sharpen your skills. I really don't think worksheets will make you or break you. No need to stress about it :)

Well working for corporate America is like going from the farm team in baseball to the big leagues. It's a whole different crowd to please and a whole different set of expectations from the managers/owners and customers. It's unreasonable to think that any employee in a large company will be competent in under 3 months, let alone one year. So the complements you are receiving are very real, and your supervisors have noticed that you are very bright.

Don't be paranoid. Ask for a private moment with your supervisor and ask what type of information these sheets are used for (nothing like a little candid curiosity from an employee, the bosses generally like that). These sheets are probably just a normal part of the culture, but again you just entered the big leagues and would not know that. A good manager will listen to you and give you a clear and patient explanation of what is happening and what it means to the big picture.

Good luck!

don't be paranoid. it seems that they like to continually "train" their employees. there are a lot of places out there that give you absolutely no training, then get pissed if you screw up. just do the worksheets. if you've been there for 6 months and you're still doing them, bring it up at your review when you're discussing how you're doing in the job.

no dont get paranoid. life is too short. if they dont like something you are doing they would say something to you.
