Our dog's Rabies vaccine will be only 28 days before our date of departure from Canada to Brazil. How strict are they? If we bring him anyway does anyone know if they will just quarantine him there for the 2 days or would they actually not allow him to enter. I would appreciate any information on this. Thanks.

Personally , I do not think nothing will happen.
You can contact the Brazilian Consulate , what can they tell you , rules are rules.

For peace of mind can't you retard your trip by two days.

Have a good trip to Brazil.

Call the Embassy or Consulate of your destination country to confirm while you are planning your trip. They are usually very helpful and provide you with the most up-to-date requirements and additional advice for traveling with your pet.

Ask the Embassy or Consulate about quarantine policies. If quarantine is required, ask them where the local containment areas are, whether you will need a reservation and what the cost will be.

Ask Embassy or Consulate what the required documents are, where you can obtain the necessary forms and whether you may use your own veterinarian to certify them or whether you need to have them certified by a veterinarian or official from the country you will be visiting.

Ask Embassy or Consulate about vaccinations, tests required, and the procedure for clearing customs.

Always check with your home country to find out what the re-entry requirements are.

Tell your home Embassy/Consulate where you are traveling to, how long you will be staying and ask what the requirements are for reentry. They also may have useful information regarding traveling with your pet on their website.

Check the airline you're planning to travel with your pet and determine what their pet policies are.

You can check yourself what says in the Brazilian embassy site :

b) Rabies vaccination certificate for cats and dogs, issued not less than the previous 30 days and not more than 1 year. The certificate must be signed by a veterinarian licensed and recognized by the regional office of “Animal Health of Canada” (Tel. 905 883-1600). Animals younger than four years old are exempted from vaccination. :

You could be taking a chance. The Brazilian Consulate in Boston specifically states, "There is no quarantine for pets entering Brazil." How cute is your dog? Maybe if s/he has really soulful eyes ...
