You can find some statistics on the Bureau of Justice site.
http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/welcome.html
Here's an interesting fact: I was in a gun control debate and one of the statistics I found was that Washington DC has a law that bans the sale of handguns ( I don't remember if possession was illegal too) for the past like 20 something years but their murder rate by guns have tripled, if not quadrupled since the passing of the law. I spent 20 minutes looking for the site but couldn't find it, sorry.

Another fan of statistics! Well my friend, you don't tell me what you are trying to prove, so I'll try to be short and give you a complete answer (if any of you have seen my previous answers ... short is in the eye of the writer!)
If you are trying to prove that gun violence is way out of control and getting worse by the day, and the only thing that will save civilization is an outright ban on all firearms ... go to the brady law site (you'll have to google these sites, I'm too lazy to look them up!) sites dedicated to the movie "Bowling for Columbine" the Center for disease control and other sites dedicated to disarming American citizens.
If you are trying to prove that gun violence is not out of control, and that use of firearms by law abiding citizens stop crimes in progress ... Hit the NRA site, sites backed by hunting rights groups, gun manufacturers and dealer sites (and headquarters if there is one near you!), and get your butt to the local rod and gun club, talk to the officers of the club, they will provide you with the information you need.
Basically, you can twist and bend statistics to prove or disprove whatever you want! By chosing the stats you quote carefully, your opinion can be backed up by researched, true numbers!
Want to prove the USA is the most dangerous place in the world for gun violence? Create a graph showing several countries with vastly smaller populations and the USA ... and show only the total number of violent incidents using guns!
Want to show that the USA is fairly safe in the world? Create a graph of the USA and other countries of similar population and gun ownership (throw in a couple where there is significant political unrest and/or significant gang activity or war and border disputes (Ireland (the IRA), any Middle east countries (currently in a state of war), Israel, etc.
To "pump up the numbers" if you need to ... define gun violence in the loosest possible terms, add in suicides, justifiable homicide/shootings, and shootings by law enforcement!
If you want to downplay the numbers, provide a breakout of the types of violence ... show that although the actual number of shooting in the USA is higher, the per capita rate (incidents per 1,000 citizens) of shootings is actually quite well in line with other industrialized countries, futher breakout criminal shootings into one category, suicides into another, law enforcement shootings into another category, and justified shootings into yet another.
Play with the numbers for a while, it will take some time, but you will be able to prove your point, using "reliable, verified, and researched numbers!"
Ornery and mean owns guns, and believes that all jurisdictions in the USA should be "shall issue" where pistol permits and concealed carry permits are concerned. My fellow gunowners have been attacked for years by "proven" statistics that show gun ownership is the biggest problem in the world, and frankly ... I'm sick of playing the "numbers game!"

when I had my first infant and found her, I took an entire field of benadryl. i be attentive to that sounds stupid, yet i could no longer sleep. every time I positioned my head on my pillow i presumed approximately her. luckily, no person ever knew that overdosed that night. It become between the scariest issues in the international. Later that week I contacted the adoption company who did all the paperwork and that they have got been worried b/c of my crying and informed me that if i mandatory any psychological medical care, they might front the bill (that throughout no way got here approximately). whilst i become going during the being pregnant, no person ever advised me for the after outcomes of the adoption. companies are out to make money and get the adoptive mothers and dads what they want, a good number of them relatively do no longer look after the beginning mothers! this is only my opinion!

You can get information from the NRA website. The NRA supports the enforcement of laws prohibiting the criminal use of firearms and will probably have statistics available regarding gun violence in various cities and states.
