You can pretty much do whatever you want. Some moms want to keep a gown and/or robe on during labor and the birth. Others had an intense desire to get out of their clothes. I've done it both ways.
First - Hosptial birth - wore two hospital gowns (turned different ways so your bottom doesn't hang out when you walk the halls) and a hosptial robe over it.
Second - Freestanding Birth Center - arrived ready to push. Wanted a water birth and I had brought a shirt to wear in the tub but I ended up naked instead. I put on a long shirt afterwards when I got in bed.
Third - Home waterbirth. Labored either naked in front of the fireplace, in the birthtub or wearing my bathrobe. Birthed naked in the tub. Put on a nightgown afterwards.

most of the time its the mother to be's choice, but you do get a hospital gown to wear, but when your in the middle of labor and pushing you won't care what you look like or who's looking at you, all you'll be thinking about, is getting the pain over with, and seeing the baby, your choices you are having the baby. Just ask your hospital if your still uncertain. Good luck!

When I had my daughter, I was wearing a hospital gown, but it was a good one and covered me nicely. If you're having a normal labor, it's good to get up and walk around a bit in the early stages, and you can't do that naked!

U will still wear the gown...if u prefer to be naked thats your choice but its only that "your choice"...i had my gown on both deliveries...my mother chose to be naked throughout her delivery with my brother....they wont even give u the option of being naked or wearing the gown, they usually expect u to wear it the whole time, u will just have it pulled up over your tummy and open and tied in the back...u will not wear panties or a bra though,.,,good luck!!

Depends on a lot of things - what hospital, how your delivery's going, what YOU want and if there's an emergency procedure needing to be done. With my first I kept my own nightie on all the way through, right to the end. Normal delivery. With my second, they thought I may have problems, even though things started ok, so I had one gown that bared my bum to the world, but let's face it, once your'e at that point where you have to go with the flow, you don't care who sees what right?? As the old saying goes, you leave your modesty at the labour ward doors and collect it on the way out home!! Good luck! And remember make sure you do what you want within reason.

When I was in labor I still had the gown covering me. Well except THERE. I don't know if I would've felt comfortable being completely naked. Especially because the rooms are so cold

You can wear whatever you want if you dont mind it possibly getting stained. A large tee-shirt or nightgown. I personally took the gown. One in the front and one over the back like a robe. You obviously can't wear pants or underware once your ready to push or when you have an epidural. Honestly honey you are not going to care once you are finally there! I was so nervous and embarassed at the thought of being naked etc etc. When it came down to the nitty-gritty I was ready to have that baby! Good Luck!

You wear a hospital gown. It's to preserve some dignity. You don't want to wear your own gown, trust me. It's way too messy.
I can't see why anyone would want to have a baby in the hospital naked.. sorry..

You can wear the hospital gown. I suppose if you choose not they aren't going to say anything. Either way be comfortable.
