My boyfriend has a son from a female, who is saying she is moving to texas with her boyfriend who is in the military, and she needs to have their son's birth certificate so she can give it to the people on the base...(her words) Im trying to figure out why it needs to be signed and why she would need to give it to anyone if she isnt married to this guy that is in the military. Does this make sense to anyone? It dosent to me. I think she's crazy.

She has his birth certificate, but it isnt signed because he isnt sure he's the dad, and she wont allow him to have the child tested. when it comes up, she wont allow him to see his son. the question really is, does it need to be signed.

The only reason she would need the birthcertificate is to put the child on her boyfriend's page 2. Which means making the child her boyfriend's dependant. This would allow your boyfriend's son to been seen at medical or dental and possibly be accepted to onbase daycare.
She, as the mother has a right to have acopy of the birthcertificate. But she will not be allowed to give it to the base people for two reasons. 1) She is not married to the military meber so there for she and her son have to right to access base priveldges. 2) Since the birth certificate will show that your boyfriend is the father, the only way for her boyfriend to get the child onto his page 2 is to have your boyfriend sign over custody. Of course this has to happen only if there is a marrige.
I hope this helps

Your boyfreind should NOT sign the birth certificate. Unless and until she has a paternity test done, there is no proof of him being the father, right? Besides, I have seen birth certificates (mine and my son) and I don't see anywhere on there to sign. Maybe I haven't looked at it close enough, and again, you are correct, unless she is married to this other guy, she should not be allowed to have any shopping or other benefits. This sounds a bit fishy to me. And, she can pay for and get another copy of the birth certificate for her son, anyway. Please, asap, call an attorney, to see about paternity testing, etc., and what to do regarding the birth certificate, and what she is talking of doing (moving, etc.). I wish you, your boyfriend, and the baby, the best. Take care.

If the woman has custody of the child, why does anyone question her request for the birth certificate? I also don't understand what needs to be signed? My kids don't have anything on their birth certificates that needs a signature. Is it that your b/f isn't listed as the legal father and she is requesting his signature to validate himself as the father? If that's the case it may be a way to avoid forcing a paternity test.

"she wont allow him to have the child tested" If he subpoena's the test she will HAVE to allow it or go to jail. The only thing I can think of as to why she may need the birth certificate is for medial care on base and she plans on putting her current boyfriend's name on the birth certificate and pass the son off as HIS son. I suggest your boyfriend get himself a lawyer FAST because what she is trying to do is called fraud and she could land her butt in a federal prison real fast for trying to pull it on the military...not to mention her boyfriend could land in Levenworth...

She definitely needs written, notorized permission from him to move their son across state lines and will be asked for that permission or custody papers proving parents of their son since they are not married and he is not the father and they are going on Federal land. Done for the childs safety and welfare.

Who cares why she needs it. It is her son's birth certificate, she is allowed to have a copy.

Unless they get married, she and her son do not receive any benefits of any kind. Now once and if they get married, her child will then be entitled to healthcare and base privileges and so will she. They can not live on base housing and he will not receive any housing allowance to assist him with living off of base with her.

Unless they intend to marry, she's not a dependent or the child of the sponsorand therefore not entitled to any services, ID's or benifits...and may not be let on base without the sponsor..butit wouldn't hurt to give it to her and forget it..

Yes, if they are going to live on the base the government needs all details about everyone. Stop being paranoid.

She just wants to see if she can get benefits for her kid...Not gonna happen though, unless she claims that her boyfriend fathered him...She just wants a handout, really classy huh?

Sorry, but to get benefits, you must be married. I'm a military wife.
