This question was debated back in 500 BC in Greece. It's been asked more times than there are stars in the sky.. When will it ever stop ? If I have to give an answer I'll say the chicken, unless it was the egg instead, of course.

it really depends on your definition of chicken egg. If it its "an egg with a chicken embryo in it" then the egg came first. if its "an egg laid by a chicken" then the chicken came first
