The Nile begins in the mountains of Ethiopia at Lake Tana as the Blue Nile and Lake Victoria in Uganda as The White Nile.
Around 320km. north of Khartoum the rivers join with the Ataba, its only tributary, and become the Nile.
It travels an incredible 6680kms through 10 different countries including Egypt to finally reach its destination at the Egyptian delta, which opens on to the Mediterranean.
Without doubt if there was no Nile, then there would never have been an Egypt.
The Nile is the longest river in the world.
