Great Britain, with a land area of 88,787 sq ml, is the largest island of the British Isles.
USA has a total land area of 3,718,695 sq ml is the fourth largest country in the world after Russia, Canada and China.
By dividing the land area of USA by GB, you get a ratio of about 41.8. So you need roughly 42 x Great Britain to fit into United State of America.

The U.S is 3,787,319 square miles. Great Britian or United Kingdom is 94,251square miles. This divides out to 40.183329.If we take away Aliska being 656,424 square miles and Hawai'i being 10,932 square miles for a total of 667,356square miles leaving 3,119,963 square miles in the 48 states divided would be 33.102704 so take your pick.
