I think Chyna had a lot of influence in that event. I didn't use to watch wrestling back then so I have no idea, but I saw the Wrestlemania collection.

after hhh betrayed dx he became the game, the king of kings as we all know him 2day. if he did not have the heel turn, no 9 time world champion, no game, no sledgehammer, no evolution, no mcmahon/helmsley stable, nothing but a midcarder who would have fizzled out w/multiple ic title and european title reigns. in a sense hhh had 2 do it.
as 4 kane, he was always a loner, so him and dx was never that great of a fit.
