How does art reflect in history?

how do you see art affecting history or the way ppl. view what they are going through at the time of the historical event? ie. in time of communism only pix showing comm. in good light was allowed so many ppl. viewed comm. as good. Thanks

note art changes with people during WW1 more patriotic images where released. the art of the time depicts the people of the time and there interest. ex if some one from now a days goes to the past they can understand what is going on during that time if they look and a virility of art work. during the industrial revolution there was a lot of "real life" images showing the common work man. same with all art work of any time it will depict what is going on in that time
