There's a very good herbicide that will control/kill the ivy. It's very safe and easy to use. The product is found in most hardware stores and is sold as "Brush-B-Gone" or "Brush-Killer". The active ingredient you should search for is called; "TRICLOPYR". It was made specifically to control hard to kill perennial weeds and brush. It can also control trees when applied properfly.

It can be sprayed directly onto the ivy or to reduce the cost of application --- try pruning the ivy back as far back as possible and then apply by using a paint brush or spray the TRICLOPYR onto the cut surface within 10 minutes after cutting. (this needs to be done within the prescribed time or else the ivy will begin healing itself by exuding a liquid). The TRICLOPYR will be translocated down to the roots and kill it completely...much in the same manner in which Roundup works.

Since TRICLOPYR controls ONLY broad-leaved weeds, you can control the ivy growing on your lawn without damaging it.

Hope this solves your problem. Good luck!

The best way and the cheapest way..
In a spray bottle or bucket add salt, vinegar, water and spray where the vines are growing out of the ground.

Only spray plants you want to kill...it kills anything you spray it on...I've even used this on bugs...

Cut off the stems at ground level and wait for them to die, then pull them off the house. Keep cutting the stems as they sprout from the ground. If you can cut them flush with the ground, you can try covering with black plastic for a season or two. Don't use herbicides if you don't want your kids & pets to get cancer.
