I find that when I watch an actor play a really bad person in a movie, then every time I see them again I think of that. For instance, every time I see Anthony Hopkins in a movie I think of Hannibal Lecter. Anybody else have this problem, and if so, what movie and actor?

Yes, I think this is normal. Some actors can never overcome the initial role that made them famous, like in sitcoms or powerful films.

Antony Hopkins -- WOW! You must have been really affected by his performance. :-) I have that problem when making a switch from TVs to movies (for instance, James Marters will always be Spkie from Buffy for me, even if he stars in the Hollwood blockbuster). And Robert DeNiro's performance as a vengeance-driven rapist in Cape Fear freaked me out, too, so for awhile I had to stop watching his movies. Thankfully, he's DENIRO -- and I finally got over it.

If you want to see Sir Antony in a softer role, rent Hearts in Atlantis. It's sort of a campy movie, but his character is so sweet and wise.

Occasionally. Espcially when I dislike a character with a passion. Or they play a character that I love.

Mark Hamill=Luke Skywalker (which I think is pretty common, considering he never really did anything else afterwards beyond voice work).

Hugh Jackman=Wolverine (I can't help it . . . everything he's in, I still expect him to have claws shoot out his hands)

There are more, but you get the idea.

some times yes and some times no. i think comedy actors have a tough time getting away from that venue for some reason.

Jack Nicholson -- he scares me...I mean even if I were to walk up and talk to him, I would be nervous -- he could blow up like Al Pacino -- or Anjelina Jolie's dad the Hitcher and Anaconda - very bad but they do tend to absorb the energy of the people they portray.
