I think he's in 7th grade because he's 14 right so normally he's in 7th grade

Second grade in Junior High School, the typical grade of a teenage anime Japanese character. Not a junior but not yet a senior, can get a cute junior boy/girlfriend but in the same time can also get a sexy senior boy/girlfriend.

Anyway. It's the equivalent of being in the Eighth grade in the United States of America.
