Steve Yzerman. Always has been, always will be.

If you get me to admit Stevie's not still playing (Yes, I'm dellusional) and you get me to admit there are other hockey players outside of the Red Wings (Yes, I'm fanatical), I enjoy watching Sidney Crosby. However, Kris Draper is awesome. I love his grit. Pavel Datsyuk's skills are unbelieveable too. He just hasn't proven himself in the playoffs yet.

Yzerman, however, will always (in my book at least) be the greatest hockey player to ever live. Outside of this year, he is the only Red Wings captain I've ever known. His determination, grit, and leadership qualities are amazing, and he's definitely an amazing role model.

First, your current choice makes me ill. The only guy I hate more is Krusty Alfredson of the Sens. (nothing personal)
Second, Mario was an awesome player, however, my choice would still be Bobby Orr.
Current players, not sure I find anyone playing I think that much of, even Sid needs more time to impress me but hey I've seen Hull, Howe, Gretzky, Lemieux, Richard, Lafleur, Perrault, Messier, Coffey, Orr, Bourque, Bossy so Sid has some big shoes to fill.

Dom hasek is an awesome goltender for many years he singlehandedly won his country a medal and that was a long time ago. Even now he is one of the best goltenders in the league (Top 5 for sure) and around 40 years old.

Bobby Clarke (Flyer fan so what do you expect) and as a Flyer fan it makes me sick to say it but Sidney Crosby because I know him and watched him grow into the player he is. Gagne is my current favorite Flyer. Also, I have to throw in an obscure one-Joey Dipenta (D for the Ducks) because he is family and he is bar none, the most impressive person I know. Just downright humble and very smart.
P.S- Spezza and Hasek are on my top 10 biggest idiot list. That said, I am sure Bobby Clarke is on some of yours but the guy had heart and fought through alot of obstacles.

All time: Scott Stevens. Great leader and a good scorer from the blue line. When he was playing, Stevens had a glare to his cool blue eyes that warned an opponent, step up and prepare to go down hard.

Right now: Brian Gionta. That mighty midget knows how to get underneath the skin of an opposing player.

All Time: Scott Stevens
Current: Zach Parise

I can't believe no one has mentioned Parise!! Just the way he plays makes me like him a ton, but the thing that makes him untouchable and more amazing than ever is the fact the he is SO HOT <3 <3 <3

either patrick marleau or big joe. marleau's the capitan of my fav team and hes been on the team putting up franchise numbers (san jose is a small franchise but still) until joe thornton came along he was the leading scorer. and big joe is arguably the best player in the league right now. he turned around the sharks last year from being 4th in their division to being 5th in the conference. so yeah their the best
