By "not working" you are clearly using the example of the Soviet Union. In Communism there is 7 steps, no country has ever gotten past 6, mainly because the people were not in power. The Soviet Union, in economic terms, would be labeled a "Degenerated Workers Society" in which Socialism the economic system is in place, however the workers are not in power (real Communism).

Communism can work if it is in the form a a democratic socialist state, in which the people elect their officials, a lot similar to America, these officials then make the decisions for the betterment of the working class. There must be many officials so that power is not given to a few, this is the main protection against corruption. Also the people must rebel if their system is flawed by corrupted leaders.

You have based your argument on a country where the people were not in power, and therefore not a Communist country by any standards.

First I have to admit that I am not communist. But I don't believe in pure capitalism either. Communistic societies don't work, because there is so much corruption and power is concentrated for few people. Unfortunately I have to tell you that 100% capitalistic system isn't perfect either !!
In capitalistic system has also same type of corruption, but it isn't as openly done as in communistic system.

In socialistic system everybody own equally everything and there isn't any reason to be above average.
Reason why 100% Capitalistic system isn't good either, is fact that 1% of population owns 90% of all the money and resources !

In my opinion best system right now in the world is in Scandinavian countries where masculine and feminine point of views are equally balanced. In Scandinavian countries have a capitalistic market with socially balanced health-care. So I would say that those countries are best in the world of taking all the good things from both capitalistic and communistic systems.

i'm not a commie, but do acknowledge that it did attempt to address serious problems in capitalism. greed got in the way of communism ever having a chance of success, but look at the state of the world we are now in. wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few, and according to scientists we are soon arriving at an environmental disaster. i wouldn't say that democratic capitalism has been a smashing success.

Communism... true Communism has never been practiced. Not for any real appreciable length of time. So it is unclear weather or not it would work.,, Capitalism unchallenged doesn't seem to be working all that well though does it? ?

Communism works perfectly fine, as long as its voluntary.

If you look at most traditional homes and families, they operate on a communist model. The central authority (parents) own all the property and control all the resources, and each member of the community (family) is able to use those resources according to their needs.

Communism only stops working if it is forced. Which is why it hasn't worked for any of the totalitarian governments that have attempted it.

Who said it does not work. Your teacher? It does actually work and it will replace what you now have, later. Enjoy.
