I read that for English Lit class in college. Don't give me a quiz on it though, as that was 30 years ago. The correct title is Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
Here's the outline (from Amazon): When a green man riding a green horse and carrying his own green-haired head gallops into Arthur's dining hall, you know there's going to be some drama in this tale. And there is! There's some hunting and killing of animals for the sportsperson and the bloodthirsty. There's romantic temptation, and there's suspense.
I just remember it as being difficult to read, being in middle English.

Yes, I've read Gawain and the Green Knight. It's a fascinating tale but it's a little complicated and written in an alliterative Middle English dialect unlike any other surviving in any extant manuscripts except for three others which are attributed to the same author. It's really good stuff. If you're taking it in class, try to pay attention and read the footnotes.
A lot can be learned from those who passed long before us. If you read Gawain and the Green Knight and try to extract the moral, you may just find that society hasn't really changed all that much, that the same pressures exist then as now and that trying to live up to society's expectations is always difficult.
But it's also a good story. It's got a little of everything--gore, adventure, romance, intrigue, deception and it's really very funny. Try to remember that it's supposed to be funny, and you might just get a laugh or three out of it. I've read it in translation and in the original and then reread it a few more times.
You may learn very little from the tale, but, if nothing else, you should know that if ever a big green knight offers you the chance to cut off his head, you should just say no.

Yes, I read it twenty years ago in college as an English Lit major. I personally found it a little slow, but perhaps you should read it for yourself and form an educated opinion. It's fairly short. And it's Sir Galwain. Getting the title right is the first step. You can do it! ;)

Decades ago. I think John Steinbeck wrote a simplified version of it, but I'm not sure. If you look up Sean Connery's film work, you should find the movie that was made about the story, because he played the Green Knight in it.
