It seems to be displaying a foreign flag is better?
Displaying an American flag is considered some sort of "Pride" and is discouraged.

At my last residence, flying flags was only allowed in certain areas. i.e. the backyard.

I suppose I might have pissed them off by flying it in the front, but I was afraid of the consequences and didn't really feel like doing all that, just to fly a flag.
Should it be illegal?

BURN THE FLAG
BY
ed-mike mertell
Burn the flag! It’s just a rag! It doesn’t stand for anything anymore! What’s wrong with you? Don’t just sit there looking at me as if I just said that your mother was a whore. She’s not. Your country is.
Don’t you think I won’t shed a tear as I set to flame this old banner of red, white, and blue. Regardless of what you may believe, I once loved her too. Alas, now she has betrayed me and you.
I remember so fondly growing up learning her proud history. I remember learning how our forefathers fought against economic injustice, religious oppression, and aristocratic tyranny. I remember learning how they painstakingly wrote a constitution that created a government in which everyone could be free. How it set up a system of checks and balances that made sure that the real power always remained in the hands of the people, thus insuring the blessings of liberty for themselves, and us their prosperity.
Yes, I remember so proudly each morning placing my hand over my heart, and pledging my elegance to that beautiful banner that stood for everything I had learned to love; freedom, and justice for all. My heart swelled with pride when I learned of the times she was in danger, and how my extraordinary country men and women came to her beck and call.
I learned all the songs that praised her, and I sang them all with pride; My country tis of thee, America the beautiful, and the Star spangled banner. I knew that through all the evil in the world, as long as we stood beside this wonderful flag, my country would remain true with God on its side.
Burn the flag! It’s just a rag! It doesn’t stand for one ******* thing anymore! The ship of democracy has been sunk by treacherous men. Can’t you see her pieces as they wash up on freedoms abandoned shore?
In the forties and fifties they began their treachery, playing first on our fear of Nazis then communists. They built their own shadow government, with a foreign and domestic policy based on debauchery.
Truman said that they could not be trusted, and kept them under tough scrutiny. In Korea; at the thirty-eighth parallel, he drew the line, when they wanted world war three.
Ike was more of the type they “liked”. He gave them free reign. They terrorized all that apposed them with J. Edger Hoover, and Joseph McCarthy. They replaced democracies with dictatorships in Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic, a grim prelude for what they planned at home.
Then Kennedy came along and threatened to foil their ambitious plans. He treated their leaders with justified contempt and malice. At the bay of pigs; the treacherous ones found themselves betrayed, and they returned the favor at Dallas.
Johnson saw the message at the motorcade, and knew their capabilities. He would let them do as they would abroad and they would let him create his “Great society”. Although when he watched their subsequent actions he must have felt some woe. In Laos they started their own secret war called “Enterprise” using an opium warlord named Vang Pho. They poisoned our own boys on the front lines with heroin, and imported it to our children at home. For them this drug scourge was a triple edged sword. It prolonged a very profitable war for them in Vietnam. It discredited the hippy movement as a bunch of junkies. It strengthened their growing mafia connections, and their power grew like Rome.
Then Nixon came along; a man with whom they had worked before in Guatemala. While he was at democracies keel, they started “Project Bluebird”. With drugs like DZ, and LSD our children’s very minds they began to steal. When in his mind their patriotism Nixon finally began to debate, the flexed their muscles and stuck him with “Watergate”.
Then Ford came along; a man with whom collaboration with the traitors was a time honored tradition. After all, if you can remember, he was on the “Warren Commission”.
Then Carter came along and tried to repair twenty years damage in only four. He made upholding human rights a foreign policy. He purged the traitors from their places of power and began to investigate their past activities. Fortunately for his life he wasn’t as popular as Kennedy, and the ones who would have him assassinated settled for the simple economic destruction of his presidency.
Then Reagan came along, an actor who was perfect for their part. He looked so sincere, like some bodies grand paw. Even when he lied and got caught you still wanted to believe him. He said “We will never make deals with terrorist nations.”, while selling arms to Iran, Iraq, and Syria. He said “Just say no.”, while doing business with Manuel Noriega, and the contradoras, who were importing millions of tons of cocaine into our country. He made the traitors even more rich and powerful, and turned America for the first time into a debtor nation.
Then Bush came along and said, “Ignore the poor. Ignore the deficit. Ignore the air pollution. Watch out or those damn democrats will free Willy Horten!” While he rapped himself in my holy flag and took a crap on the constitution.
So burn the flag! It’s just a rag! They use it to shield their actions from our sight. Look through the malaise of non-issues, and shallow slogans like “Family values” and see democracies sad plight.
You call me a commie a traitor and an ingrate. You look upon my action with indignation and hate. Yet you think of them as patriots? You can’t that this rag has become a symbol of the ones who empty our homes of bread while they fill our ears with lies. They sell our jobs overseas, while they import drugs into our cities that ruin our children’s lives.
So, when you practice your one remaining constitutional right, when you beat this flag burning hippy to death tonight. Don’t you be surprised if you hear me say with my dying breath, “I know not what coarse you others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”

We're actually the only house out of 30 on my street with an American flag out front. Its sad - but that's how we tell people to find our house.
I saw Trump got in trouble for having a flag too high, it was against community guidelines or some such bs.

I think some communities just have that "every lawn must look the same" policy...I try to avoid those places....creeps me out. I have red white and blue flowers planted...
I'm a liberal, and a military family...for those that cite liberals as the problem--I am all for patriotism and freedom of speech. So there.

You must not be an American or are Republican.
We; as Americans, have allowed the tyrant Republicans to gain power to give the rest of the world a opportunity to see how a real Nation gets rid of a tyrant. The decline of the Republicans and their demise is a result of the true Americans. We will destroy the Republicans. As some of you should destroy your Nazi leaders. These leaders exist throughout the world. All must be destroyed. We got ours. You get yours.
