31 weeks makes you 8 months pregnant. No reason to be alarmed they do a non stress test to almost every one. Contracting is normal to do from the min you get pregnant. The test just helps the DR. know you are not having any complications. It is your dilatation that will determines if you have a baby Early. As long as you are doing all the right things for the baby you should be OK. every day your child is in side you is another day that the baby has to develop. This is so important to your childes health . My fingers are crossed for you and congradulations on the addition to your family.

NAHHH...don't worry mom. It's really just to see how the baby is doing. If they feel you need to delivery early they could do like they did to me..lol..lol. After the non stress test, tell you to go to maternity and check in. Course I was a high risk pregnancy from the beginning. I'd already had non stress tests for weeks before this happened and the baby was fine. The reason they decided to have her early was they thought, by the test, and all the other test, she was going to be like 10-12 lb baby. Just relax and go with the flow.

I had to have a lot of them, I think it is when they are not sure, they take a little time, but dont worry, I ended up delivering 1 week early but it was due to the size of my baby, not any complications, I think they just like to be safe.

In my experience unless the baby's health or your health is in danger they will try to keep you pregnant until 36 weeks. With my first pregnancy I had to go in for non stress tests twice a week until three days before my due date. Just try to relax. The doctor will do whats in your best interest. Good Luck

They will do one as often as necessary. Could be couple times per week or even every other day, if needed. If baby seems to be in distress then they will decide to deliver only if they need to. As long as baby is doing fine they will keep you pregnant as long as they can.

FIRST OF ALL,YOU SHOULD NOT WORRY! HENCE THE NAME OF THE TEST. THE ONLY TIME THE DOCTORS WILL TELL YOU YOU NEED TO DELIVER EARLY IS IF SOMETHING IS WRONG. SO THE TEST IS ONLY TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS GOING AS PLANNED.
I HAD THEM WHEN I WAS PREG. WITH DIABETES .GOOD LUCK AND CONGRADS WHEN THE TIME IS DUE!
