No, many people are allergic to rabbits but interestingly, lots of people who are allergic to cats and dogs are not allergic to rabbits, so don't assume automatically that you will be allergic to rabbits if you are to other animals.

There really is no totally hypoallergenic pet. Even animals that don't shed much hair constantly shed dander. Animal allergies are triggered by proteins found in animal saliva, urine, and dander (dead skin flakes) - not animal hair or fur. That's why even hairless animals can cause allergic reactions in sensitive people.
Like humans, animals constantly replace their outer layer of skin with new skin cells. The old cells, or dander, are released into the air, floating into your eyes, getting sucked into your lungs, and clinging to your clothes, furniture, and just about everything else. The amount of allergen your pet produces has nothing to do with the hair itself.
The amount of dander released into the environment varies from one animal to the next. "If you find that you are less sensitive to a certain dog or cat, it's probably because that particular animal generates less dander than other animals, or you may be less sensitive to the allergens it produces, There's no guarantee you will have the same reaction to other animals of the same breed.
As animals groom themselves, they release large amounts of allergens through their saliva. In addition to dander, these bits of dried saliva end up in the air, shed along with the fur. Allergens found in animal urine can also accumulate in litter boxes, or cages. which are often kept inside the house.
Small furry pets like rabbits, hamsters, and guinea pigs are popular pets that can sometimes be manageable since the main source of animal allergen comes from their urine. If you usually clean out the bunny's cage, ask a nonallergic family member to take over the task, and encourage him or her to help care for the pet, too.
Certain breeds may be better suited for an 'allergy family"
The worse would be the angora wool rabbits and the best would be the REX rabbit.
* A rex rabbit has no long gaurd hairs, almost feels like velvet, less shedding and they do less grooming.
More info can be found about all of the rabbit breeds by going to the American Rabbit Breeders Association website.
Good Luck!

No. Rabbits shed. In order to be hypoallergic there has to be no shedding, or very minimal shedding and little or no skin flaking.
