Find a single translation(vector) that has the same effect as each composition of translations.
Here is the one of the actual problems:
(x,y) ---> (x+ 3,y+ 5.2) followed by (x,y) ---> (x+ 1.2, y+ 6)
can anyone help me figure this out? Just tell me how to do it...........you dont have to tell me that answer

To add vectors, you add them so that the tail of the second vector starts at the head of the first vector.

See this picture from Wikipedia (the one on the right):

When handling translations, you just add the translations together.

By definition a magnitude can't be negative, and is only zero for the zero vector. So nonzero vectors can't have opposite magnitudes without one of them having a negative magnitude. That isn't possible. If you defined "opposite vector" that way, it would apply only to the zero vector being opposite itself.
