I am still an amatuer, but I just learned about port forwarding. I use utorrent to download movies, but i needed to forward a port due to my router being firewalled. I logged onto the router configuration page http://192.168.1.1 There, I found the port forwarding option to be in the virtual server menu, I entered the port number required for utorrent along with my LAN IP address which was 192.168.1.2 Notice, the 2 being different to the configuration page, that is because the 2 is the host IP for the actual computer I am using with utorrent. Your question was in computer networking, and you had recieved no serious answer, so I decided to have an attempt at giving you a decent answer.

I went to the fridge to get a beer, and there was none. I had no shoes on at the time so I thought that going to the shop was out of the question. I pondered for a while and then decided to ask someone in Yahoo Answers about it.
Someone suggested putting my shoes on.
I did it and because of it I could go to the shop.
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!! YAY
The process I utilised was asking someone else which apparently is what you are doing.
TO JAY

YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW SERIOUS MY PROBLEM WAS AS I WAS SETTING UP MY NETWORK AT THE TIME

No! They want to know about a complex problem that YOU solved, not me.
I could give you some examples in naval architecture but I bet that isn't the job you're going for.
