My baby is 3 1/2 months old. The doc told us that she would not have noticable allergies until at least 6 months. Her father has terrible allergies. For the past month, her eyes have watered and swollen and she cannot get anywhere near the family dog. Is there anything I can give her safely to help her quit rubbing her eyes and sneezing. We keep the dog away from her, and I clean our carpet and furniture @ least once a week.

Some doctors are strange I think my son had allergies the week he was born and he was diagnosed with asthma at three months.

Now our doctor told us that we could give our baby benadrl half teaspoon once in a while, the thing is you want to do this under a doctor advisory because of complications at such young ages. You can take your baby to an allergy and asthma specialist as well and they will know what to do. I have seen babies do allergy meds at very young ages and like I said at three months we were doing asthma meds.

My niece at the beginning of the month was tested for allergies as her skin was irritated. She is 4 months old. And it came out that she was allergic to dogs. I would have her tested and if that means getting a new doctor go for it, I would want to find out if my daughter was allergic to something if it was bothering her.

that's riduculous, allergies can be present from minute 1 of birth. there are tests that can be done to check and prove the allergies, if it is indeed the dog, it's either time to get rid of the dog or get your doc to agree to an allergy medication, one of my children has been on zyrtec since about 2 months of age and he is now 2.. so it can be treated and controlled.
they also make products you can use on your dog to reduce allergens.

Um...breastfeed. That's the best thing you can do to take care of her allergies. If you are, great!

Either way I'd call her doc and get her checked out.
