Speed is essential, but so is agility and the ability to turn up field and gain yards.

If you have an Offensive line that gives you the time to throw the ball...who needs speed?

160 lbs. is not alot at all for a QB. You definitely need to work on your bench. A 5.4 40 yard time is pretty slow too. If I were you I'd start doing some wind sprints of at least 50 yards, 100 yards would be optimal. Your squat max is pretty good, but could be better. Hit the weights hard, take protein and creatine and run lots of sprints. You need to get your legs accustomed to running as hard as you can the length of the football field. Do lots of bench, squats, deadlifts and power cleans.

my 40 time in high school was 4.9 and i didn't even start. my max was 200 bench 225 squat i threw 50 yards and still can. i ran my mile in 5:55. i only started 2 games threw 3 tds and no ints. the guy a head of me was good . i guess it depends what the compition is like. you might be a stud in your school but a dud in mine. you do need to speed up. we have lbs that run 4,9 now .

you need to be at least a 5.0 at the slowest but it be good if you could be in the 4s. plus you need to be throwing a lil further than 60 yards so you can spread the field more.some more weight on that bench too. good luck with it. keep improving

The better times would be in the mid 4,s, but for quarterbacks, agility as well as vertical help. They also look at amount of weights you can lift, bench and squat
!

It depends on where you plan on going. If your looking at college you need to be under 5.0, probably 4.8 maybe 4.9. You can be a good High School QB and run a 5.5

Depends what kind of offense your team runs. 5.5 is pretty bad but if you do mostly hand-offs and drop backs then you should be ok if your Qb skills are great. My team's offense runs options, roll-outs and bootlegs that require me to move alot. You could work on your bench too.

good start. you have the strength. with your speed. you coach may stick to all passing, no special vick, young, mcnabb, or mcnair kind of stuff. good start, you need to get a bit faster like 5.0 or less.
