Just about anything by Frank E. Peretti. I really enjoyed "Monster" - it kinda digs into the Bigfoot/Sasquatch thing.
There is also "The Visitation"; not all people would want to read this book - a guy says he's Jesus, but a young pastor says otherwise; the pastor tries to get the people not to believe that guy, but that guy is very busy getting people to follow him, and he's succeeding, too (at first); it's one of my favorites.
There's "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness" (a mini-series) - more spiritual stuff; there's an on-going battle between angels and demons; some of the demons are also trying to get the humans to fall astray, and the angels try to prevent it; there are also struggles between the humans and inner struggles; these are two books you should DEFINITELY read.
There's also the Veritas Project series- only two so far - "Hangman's Curse" and "Nightmare Academy".
The first several books could be read at any age, but especially 13 and above (way above). The Veritas Project is aimed at slightly younger people - about 10 or 11 to 15 or 16 - but they still are enjoyable at any age.

I second the Smashed recommendation - excellent book.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is good for light reading. Better than the movie

Coraline by Neil Gaiman is intelligent and slightly eerie. It's about parallel worlds and stuff. Also, all the books by Garth Nix like the Keys to the Kingdom series and the Old Kingdom trilogy are AWESOME!

Eragon and Eldest are great books. i just finished them not long ago. they're part of the Inheritance Trilogy by Chris Paolini, but the third book isn't out yet. it's about a young orphan, Eragon, and he finds a dragon egg and he starts this huge adventure. it has Elves and Dwarves too. it reminds me of Lord of the Rings, only for a little younger crowd. they're great books. i haven't seen the movie yet, but when i started reading Eragon, the first book, i was sucked in immediately!
i'm 20 by the way. But i can definitely see anyone in the age range you specified enjoying those books.

I read the cirque du freak series by Darren Shan.
That is about vampires.
I know all the girs read those Gossip Girls stories, not really my style.
It's not really a teen book but get 'Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas' by Hunter S. Thompson!
It may not be your type of book but it is great!
