Here is the thing- I know my husband for 6 years and he has this one favourite band called "They might be giants". He has remained loyal to this band and listens to same songs a lot. I think of myself as a reasonable and caring person, but the sound of the singer's voice really annoys me as it sounds very 'moany' if you know what I mean. There are 1-2 songs that I like, but every time he puts this music on it gets a bad reaction from me. I know it's not nice, but it's like the same thing over and over again. Is that bad to admit it to him? He usually gets very defensive.

Okay, "Istanbul" and "I want another first kiss" and a couple of other songs are great songs, but the one where they sing about "accident" and miss the notes in a winy notes - yuk. Sorry!

I wouldn't tell him you hate his favorite band. When he puts on the music go read a book or do an activity you like. Your both not going to like the same of everything, its perfectly fine!

That is so funny, I hate one of my husbands favorite bands too, he really likes Bruce Springsteen, and I just about wretch when I hear that band, I think they suck for the most part. I just really hate his voice, so gravely. My hubby put them on my iPod, and I deleted it. I am not rude to him about it, I gently told him that I am not really into them.

Try to be more understanding.I don't like all of my wife's music but we still listen to it together as it brings us closer.Try to relax and enjoy your time with him.Tell him that you'd like to listen to some of your favourite bands from time to time.Above all don't insult his music.Istanbul(not Constantinople) is a great song afterall:)

Don't feel bad. I hate my husband's favorite band too. You should consider yourself lucky because my husband's favorite band is Cannibal Corpse.....good god I can't stand it! I finally just told him I don't want to hear it and so he doesn't listen to them around me. I'm much nicer with this new arrangement!

no its not bad. there are a lot of bands out there that my husband likes that I don't and vise versa and some that grate on me too. be honest but don't tell him you don't want to hear it in the house.

different people like different kinds of music. it is not written that you have to like the same things that your husband does. maybe you like country, does that mean that he should like it too? no.....
ask him to put on headphones.
or you could have a battle of the bands. you play yours and he can play his. who ever plays it loudest wins. but, i will have to say, this can cause you to loose your lease.
