Stand on the edge of a step, balancing on the balls of your feet. Raise yourself slowly as high as you can, and lower slowly to below the edge of the step, and repeat until you feel a burn in your calves. Rest 15 seconds, and do 10 reps.
This works even better if you hold weights to increase resistance.

Sliding up and down a door frame simulates leg pushes: lean against the door frame, back straight, feet about 12 inches to the front, slide down no more then 90 degrees, slowly push up not quite straight.
Walk on your toes.
Stand on the stair, hand onto the railing, toes just over the edge, slowly let the heel drop down then raise up.
Ride a bike.
Don't expect any real results for six weeks, then it will show.

You need to built explosive speed. Do a google search for plyrometric exercises. Also, you can jump over a box and back. This builts that explosive muscle. How high you can jump is also a function of your speed and weight.
