succeed are undermined. Also don't blame this on others because it seems as if evrytime an African American problem is mentioned there's a good excuse. The discrimination excuse can't be used because many other races have faced it and they're doing much better than we have. How come white people are called racists for telling the truth on here? It just seems that the reason why the black community is not going anywhere is because we expect everyone to feel sorry for us...we can't blame our problems on slavery and discrimination forever

Truth hurts.

Honestly, I don't know what's going on with that. The resources are there and there are plenty of hefty steps up available.

A lot of us want nothing more than to see them do well, and take advantage of the positive resources available to them. I can't understand why they ignore them?

I've answered this over half a dozen times because for some reason, it's to hard to understand. Black is a bred race that has only been on this planet for about 500 years. Slavery ended 1892, that is aprox 115 years ago. In that time Blacks did not have rights, till well after the 50's, then more rights after the 70's, so out of that 115 years, 80 years were spent becoming "legally" equal. So you expect in 40 years for a race to be equal to other races with 100's if not 1000's of years of lineage? Out of 1000 years, if 1 generation became VERY wealthy, it would pass down, for 100's of years after. So, in 35years, you ask that Every black person be equal to yourself? did your parents buy you ANYTHING? Did your grandparents work? My grandmother was not allowed to work as anything but a maid untill she was almost 40. Meaning she had 0 chance of being truely successful, her daughter had a "chance" but when your scrounging to survive it's a bit tougher to worry about the future. Before you judge another black person, i'd advice you know the history and not use it against them. I dont care if anyone ever feels sorry for me, but the ignorance is astounding from other races that love to point at blacks. And you are racist, because you are ignorant. If i walked around saying, why do whites dislike being called a "cracker", i'm pretty sure i wouldn't get the sympathy. And that seems to be what you are looking for. Sorry to be blunt, but i wish people would open a book instead of a beer.

I have to disagree because there are a LOT of successful african americans out there right now. I don't think you are giving us enough credit and, no I have not heard the discrimination excuse in a long time so no, that is no longer an excuse that is being used. I don't understand why people are so interested in what other people do. I don't appreciate the fact that you said we have no drive and the ones that try to succeed are undetermined. I currently and going to school to be a lawyer, my husband is also in school to do business management and he also is a semi-pro football player and we both are african american. I really think that you need to look around some more and realize whats around you because you are wrong in so many ways but yet you don't know it. You need to give people credit and stop putting us down. Plus if someone is unsuccessful thats their problems, don't blame it on just one race, that's stereotyping, and its immature so please research your facts.

It is NOT just the black community, it is people in general. As far as blacks blaming everyone else, I agree with you. They have not had it as hard a Jews, who have been kicked out of almost every country but the USA, or burned in ovens. The problem is that people look at them and just start judging with out knowing the person. There are good and bad in all groups of people. Black have been hurt many times and do not trust others. That isn't anyones fault, I would be the same way. Most black do not put their minds into education to overcome problems, but those that have, have done a good job moving up in the world.

The black community in america was doing just fine in the sixties. The black panther party was taking accountability and taking action to better our community. They were wiped out by the FBI. The replacement was gangs. They got cheap dope from the CIA. Is telling the truth making an excuse? I think when black people collectively saw what was done to our "leaders", it was a strong message. The message was, "This is what happens if you try to save yourselves." Since then, no one has been brave enough to take radical steps to improve our community, and if they did, Blacks would kill him.

You mean character? They do. Your generalizations go beyond black people and include all races. "Truth" is a relative word, you know. You are straddling a fine line between a legitimate question and a cheap shot.
