That is a really interesting question. Maybe it had something to do with unicorn blood because unicorn blood is silver. hmmmmmmmmmm

I think it is because they don't see the ghosts in color. They are just whitish spectors. The blood probably looks silver against the white background of their "bodies". That's how I always saw it anyway. Can't imagine the Bloody Baron covered in unicorn blood. That would likely make him evil, since there is such a taboo associated with harming one, and I can't imagine Hogwarts would have such a malevolent spirit about.

someone, Harry I think, asked Nearly Headless Nick in one of the books what happened to The Bloody Barron, but Nick didn't know. I can't remember exactly, but he was either too scared to ask him or he just doesn't talk about it. remember Nick is kind of afraid of the Bloody Barron.
